Forest Hill Church - Charlotte

Phase 1 (2008)

Forest Hill contracted the WH Platts Company to upgrade their church production system in 2008 and for a second phase in 2010. First Forest Hill wanted to future proof their facility by investing in HD hardware for in house productions, IMAG, and web audiences of their contemporary services. The acquisition of 4 Panasonic HPX500 P2 HD cameras in studio configuration enhanced their production performance dramatically. The P2 HD workflow afforded production members the opportunity to streamline archiving, editing and posting with a solid state foundation. The church also utilizes Apple computers for all aspects of the service program. The final HD production is switched via the Ross Synergy Series.

Phase 2 (Late 2010 – Early 2011)

In Phase 2 a new control room was designed and built with the goal being to move all IMAG, video switching, master control and the server room out of the sanctuary booth. A 72 X 144 Black Magic 3G HD digital router provides HD signal to all equipment. The Miranda Alto HD multi-viewer provides all HD signals to three Samsung HD LCD video monitors in the control room. We installed a Clear Com intercom system throughout the campus which increased communication between staffers and the control room. A climate controlled room was constructed exclusively for the server room near master control for easy access to mainframe support. Three HPX170’s were acquired for new camera positions alongside stage front to catch hard to get angle shots. This flexibility gave their production the edge they desired. Forest Hill wanted to record and playback Saturday services on Sunday morning to two locations simultaneously on Sunday morning. The WH Platts Company recommended the AJA Key Pro recorder for its dual channel synchronizer and converter to host the signal to and from the main campus. It also serves an overflow area adjacent to the sanctuary. We also installed 13 locations throughout the entire campus for digital signage. This system communicates church services, announcements and updates for members and staff.
